| 英文描述 | Granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis is an inflammatory disease of unknown etiology that affects the central nervous system of dogs.
Signs depend on location of the lesions, which can be multifocal. Most cases in middle-aged animals; small breeds of dogs seem to be at high risk. On histopathology there is perivacular cuffing and noncaseating granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis, with microgranuloma formation. Facial paralysis, facial sensory deficit, and fever (especially in rapidly progressing cases) can occur. Onset is often acute, sometimes with sudden onset of blindness. A slowly progressive focal form and involvement limited to the optic nerves and retinas have also been described. The cause is unknown, but corticosteroids might cause temporary remission of signs. CSF usually shows a marked pleocytosis, with about 80% of the cells lymphoplasmacytic, and an elevation in protein. |
